Cameras to be allowed to film in Court of Appeal
Today (31 October 2013) is a landmark day for reporting in the Court of Appeal as TV cameras are to be allowed into five Courtrooms of the Court of Appeal for the first time.
Comments made by Judges and submissions and arguments put forward by Barristers will be shown but not defendants and witnesses. Other safeguards are in place such as a time delay to ensure that justice is not hindered.
The move has been welcomed by some commentators and is seen by some as progressive whereas others have concerns.
