Changes for Employment Law in April 2014
The 6 April 2014 saw the following changes become law:
- The introduction of ACAS conciliation before a claimant can lodge a tribunal claim
- The repeal of the statutory discrimination questionnaires
- The introduction of financial penalties for employers found to have breached employment law where the tribunal considers that the breach had ‘one or more aggravating features’
The 6 April also saw the usual annual increase in statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity pay and adoption pay and also this year the slightly later increases in the statutory compensation limits (which used to occur in February each year).
