The Information Commissioner’s Office has issued some helpful guidance on “Bring Your Own Device” to work which is a growing trend in UK businesses.
The guidance follows a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998 by the Royal Veterinary College when an employee was using a personal device for work but which was subsequently lost. It held images of job applicants.
The press release and guidance can be found here: http://www.ico.org.uk/news/latest_news/2013/Royal-Veterinary-College-data-breach-highlights-importance-of-guidance-on-personal-devices-14102013 and is a essential read for all businesses which allow their employees to use personal phones, tablets and PCs for work business.
