Information regarding Court hearings made public

26-01-2012 15:41

From 24 January 2012, it is now possible to see data about the different Courts in England and Wales via a new online tool published by the Ministry of Justice.

At the Open Justice website http://open.justice.gov.uk/courts/civil-cases/ it is possible to see detailed information regarding the length of time cases of different values have taken to get through the Court system over the past couple of months and to see general information about the various courts in the country.  Visitors can see how fast a particular Court in their area has dealt with cases.  There are pages for similar data relating to family and criminal proceedings.

The release of this information is part of the Government’s wider initiative to make information about the public sector, including the justice system, more transparent and accessible.
