Update on New Top-Level Domain Names
Regular readers of our blog will recall our previous update regarding the application process for new generic Top Level Domain names.
ICANN issued a press release on 13 June 2012 with some information regarding where the applications have come from and what people have applied for. You may recall that it is now possible to apply for generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) of practically anything eg .bank.
The press release can be found here: www.icann.org/en/news/announcements/announcement-13jun12-en.htm.
We think it’s interesting that 1930 new gTLDs have been applied for. This is going to be an interesting period for the internet generally!
